Samvid Ventures (SV) is a philanthropic foundation committed to building inclusive economies. We have staff and board presence in Detroit, New York, and Miami, and a national footprint in our programming.

Director of Operations Role

The Head of Operations will be a critical member of the leadership team, with ownership over all day-to-day operational and administrative functions and activities. The role will be different each day, requiring them to be thoughtful in strategic planning, strong in execution, and an essential member of the team during a critical time of growth.

Core responsibilities will include:

Manage all aspects of operationalizing organization’s strategy:

  • Ensure complete understanding and buy-in of organization’s vision and strategic mandate
  • Design and implement policies that translate strategy into actionable goals for performance and growth, helping to implement organization-wide goal setting, performance management, and annual planning
  • Evaluate regularly existing processes and business procedures to determine where there is room for further optimization and efficiency

Provide excellent HR leadership:

  • Ensure effective recruiting, onboarding, professional development, performance management, and retention
  • Oversee employee productivity and all compliance-related issues
  • Contributes to building a highly inclusive culture that drives high performance, encourages continuous improvement and promotes innovation
  • Ensure values and leadership standards are communicated and understood by all team members

Manage operations team:

  • Actively manage, and provide leadership, mentorship and guidance to all members of operations team

Who We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree with a track record of academic excellence
  • 10-15+ years of experience, with significant experience in operations and people management
  • Highly detail-oriented with a knack for anticipating problems and finding creative solutions quickly
  • Consistently resourceful and able to adapt quickly to changing priorities and environments
  • Commitment to and passion for SV’s mission
  • Drive to contribute meaningfully to creating and nurturing a positive team culture and working environment that will impact both direct staff and all individuals who work with us
  • Ability to balance bold ideas with a humble attitude, always seeking to learn more
  • Outstanding listening skills, creativity, and entrepreneurial spirit
