Rhys Richmond is pursuing an MD at Yale School of Medicine. Rhys co-founded and currently serves as COO for GiveDuet, a philanthropic start-up designed to reimagine international asylee aid by connecting international givers, resettled refugees, and small family-run businesses on a transparent and efficient charity platform, initially launched on the island of Lesvos, Greece. After graduating summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Southern California in 2021, she took a gap year to serve as a medical scribe for a pediatric practice while continuing work on expanding Duet’s operations to the United States.
Rhys aims to leverage her M.D. to become a practicing physician while working simultaneously in health policy/advocacy both in the US and abroad. She hopes to maintain a clinical practice while contributing to projects that enable more equitable and efficient delivery of healthcare worldwide. She ultimately foresees herself building systems and tools to reimagine individuals’ capacity to shape their own health and the health of their communities. Rhys is a life-long dancer and animal lover – you can often find her in a dance studio or attempting to train her two rambunctious Siamese kittens.
