Social Impact Fellowship

A fellowship for individuals in Venture for America to work with innovative and impactful social change organizations in Detroit as they launch a career in social impact.

About the Program

This two-year fellowship with Venture for America brings together recent graduates and Detroit-based impact organizations. Venture For America (VFA) recruits and trains recent college graduates for careers in entrepreneurship, while Samvid Ventures offers funding to organizations to hire fellows and a social impact curriculum for fellows. The fellowship launched in 2020 and we are excited to launch a second cohort in summer 2021!

Social Impact Partner Organizations

  • Offerings
    • Bring on a VFA Fellow to carry out mission-aligned work from August 2021 to July 2023, with salary and healthcare fully subsidized by Samvid Ventures
    • Engage with Samvid Ventures throughout the year to collaboratively support the Fellows in learning more about social impact
    • Engage with the VFA network of company partners in optional peer learning and network-building opportunities
  • Contributions
    • Financially support VFA through a contribution of $5,000 in year one and $10,000 in year two
    • Complete quarterly surveys and check ins with Samvid Ventures and/or VFA to remain aligned throughout the fellowship
    • Host annual events with all Social Impact Fellows to share more about the organization and engage in a problem solving exercise

Social Impact Fellows

  • Offerings
    • Work day-to-day at a local mission-driven organization
    • Learn about social impact through Samvid Ventures’ curriculum
    • Join a cohort of like-minded peers working at different organizations in Detroit
  • Contributions
    • Design and complete group service project to give back to the Detroit community
    • Complete quarterly surveys and check ins with Samvid Ventures and/or VFA to remain aligned throughout the fellowship
    • Host annual events with all Social Impact Fellows to share more about the organization and engage in a problem solving exercise
